The CD4E has the most problems from defective manufacturing. This includes bad shifting cause by the speedometer gear set and the gaskets inside the transmission pump, as well as the clutch in this specific model. The CD4E Mazda transmission in a Tribute, specifically in early 20000 models and Mazda 3 have shifting troubles and vibrations coming from the chassis. In 2004 Mazda recalled this specific model to reprogram the settings in the (PCM)  Power control Module.
